Today, in an unexpected turn of events, I struggled to get every word down. Maybe I'm tired, or maybe the words don't feel right. In any case, I achieved my goal.

I hope to continue writing this novel, as it is far from finished, but I might take the weekend off to sleep.

Spent most of today's writing session setting up the climax. There are plenty of words left to write but, mostly the fun ones. The words that make me desperate to set my butt in chair and pound at the keys of my netbook.

I felt remarkably unmotivated today. But managed to throw my characters into one hell of a mess today. I think I did the right thing. But every word I write from now on will branch from that event like a time line. If I don't like it, a substantial rewrite is in my future.

I had a great time at SFContario over the weekend.

Though I did not win the Aurora Award in the short fiction category, I was a close second, only five votes shy of the winner, Hayden Trenholm.

As anticipated, I did not write a single NaNoWriMo word all weekend. Today, am returning to the adventure.

Whew! I am now officially three days ahead. So if I meet the standard 1,667 goal tomorrow, I can enjoy the weekend without the pressure of writing.

But I must admit, I am weary from pushing myself so hard for so many days in a row.

Today, I passed the halfway point in my NaNoWriMo endeavor. Having set the goal to write two days worth for each of the next three days, I have met day one's goal. Tomorrow I will write another double-day's worth. Fingers crossed.

This morning, I set the goal to write today's 1667 words, plus get through half of what was remaining of my catch-up-deficit.

I have succeeded, writing an extra 1500+ words more than the half-deficit. (And just now, as I was doing all of the math, I realized I had double counted today so I'm actually a lot closer than I thought.) Yay!

Total for today: 5,133 words. By day 13 I should be at 21,671 words, and I've written 21,208.

That's damned close! Only 463 words. As much as I was ready to call it a day, I might write a few more words and catch up, gosh-darn-it! In the meantime, I'm posting my number to NaNoWriMo and revealing the shiny counter:
